We are the leading insurer in Portugal in Trade Credit Insurance and Surety Bond Insurance, offering the best solutions to support credit management and control in the domestic and foreign markets.

1969

It’s the year of our constitution – December 29 – with mostly public capital, as a dedicated Credit Insurance Company.

1973

We began to work in the Surety Bond area.

1975

Our nationalization is completed.

1982

Our privatization process began (public limited company with majority public capital).

1996

The first SME Policies are issued. Banco BPI becomes a majority shareholder.

2001

Beginning of the cooperation with the Euler Hermes Group.

2007

Euler Hermes becomes our shareholder, together with BPI, owning 50% of the company’s capital.

2011-2012

We are awarded Best SME Non-Life Insurance Company by Exame Magazine.

2013

We win the World Finance Insurance Awards for Best Non-Life Insurance Company.

2014

We win Best SME Non-Life Insurance Company by Exame and SIC Notícias.

2015

For the 4th time, we are named Best Insurance Company, in the segment of Small and Medium Enterprises of the Non-Life branch, in the Banking and Insurance area, by Exame Magazine’s 500 Biggest & Best of 2015 Awards.

2016

We host the 2016 General Assembly of the Berne Union, for the first time in Portugal, with the presence of 82 export credit insurers from all over the world.

2018

In March, we moved the headquarters to a new office at Av. da Liberdade. And launched an application for IOS and Google Play that allows access to credit insurance policy online management.

2019

We completed our 50th anniversary.

We signed a protocol with the Ministry of Culture to place the company's cultural collection at the service of the community.

2023

Allianz Trade becomes our sole shareholder with a 100% stake.

It is worth noting the renewal of the partnership with BPI, through the signing of a Credit Insurance distribution agreement.

Banco de Portugal

In partnership with Banco de Portugal (Bank of Portugal), we provide a direct link to the Corporate Area of Banco de Portugal. This is a secure and free area that provides information and two-way communication between Banco de Portugal and companies operating in the national market.

We recommend that this consultation be carried out regularly, since it is a way for companies to monitor the important information registered by Banco de Portugal and to use the bidirectional communication offered. In the Corporate Area, you can also find a set of information services relevant to your activity and the means to fulfill your statistical reporting obligations to Banco de Portugal.
